WHITE GALLERY LONDON 2015
Good Show + Good Product = Huge Success.
This year, more than 70 key names who form the elite of the industry, offered a stunning array of new looks that had one thing in common – a sense of softness, movement and flow.
Exquisite fabrics, from feather-light silk chiffons to laces that fall in gentle gathers, were the focal point of every collection, as was a new approach to colour – ivories with the barest hint of ash, blush that has moved from pink to the palest of coffee, highlights of brilliant red, turquoise, and a rainbow of pastels in embroideries and flower motifs.
Ian Stuart’s catwalk played to a full house and a hugely appreciative audience. Known for his design bravado, this time round he soften outlines, added layer upon layer of intricate but subtle detail, and included beautiful greys, creams and pinks. His finale number, a shimmering gown in an amazing water-colour print, aptly named Monet, was teamed with a black veil splattered with coloured petals –a masterly touch that confirmed him as a leader of the Brit pack.
Talking to buyers, there is a greater sense of optimism in the market than in recent years, with many saying that the top end – the area that White Gallery promotes exclusively – is enjoying a real boom as brides are prepared to spend on the name, and the dress, of their dreams.
White Gallery 2016 will take place on 15-17 May.
